This guide will give you the complete process of locating your cache file, creating a ZIP file and sending that local cache file to our support team.  It will also explain how you can delete your local cache files if our support team ever instructs you to do so.  Before going through these steps, please make sure your Time Doctor program is up to date by visiting and viewing the version numbers there.

This guide is for Windows users only.

Step 1. Exit the Time Doctor application

If Time Doctor Lite is running, then your cache file can not be compressed because it is currently in use.  It is important that you aactually EXIT the Time Doctor Lite application (don't just sign out).

To properly close it,  Click on Options first in the the TimeDoctor application then click on Exit:

Step 2. Locate your "Time Doctor Lite" or "Time Doctor Pro" cache folder.

Open your Computer and follow the path below.

Windows Vista, 7, 8/8.1 and Windows 10: 


C:\Users\*YOUR USER NAME*\AppData\Local\TimeDoctorLite

C:\Users\*YOUR USER NAME*\AppData\Local\TimeDoctorPro



Note:  Replace *YOUR USER NAME* with whatever user name you used to log into your windows session. 

If you can not see the the AppData or Local Settings folder, it may be because it is hidden by default.  To see it you'll need to display your hidden folders.  To show hidden files and folders in Windows Vista and Windows 7, click on the Organize menu in any windows file folder, and select "Folder and search options". See example below:

For Windows 8 or 8.1 and Windows 10 click on View, go to Options, and click on Change folder and search options:



In the Folder Options, select the View tab and then check the option to "Show hidden files, folders, or drives":


Click ok and Open: My Computer -> Local Disk (C:)

Then go to Users -> "Your User Name" -> AppData -> Local. Find Time Doctor Lite or Time Doctor Pro folder (depends on the version that you are currently using).

Please make sure to compress and send us the correct folder, depending on which version of the software you're using and having trouble with.

NOTE:  If you were instructed to delete the local cache files, this (these) are the folders which you need to delete.  You do not need to proceed any further in this tutorial in that case.

Step 3.  Compress the Time Doctor cache folder

If we asked you to send us the local cache files, then continue by compressing the correct TimeDoctor folder using one of the following options.

Option 1. Using the default compression program of Windows, Right click on TimeDoctorLite Folder, click on "Send to" and Select "Compressed (zipped) folder":

Option 2. Use your Compression program like Winzip or WinRAR. In this case, I am using a free compression tool called 7-Zip. Right-click on "TimeDoctor"folder, Select 7-Zip and Click on "Add to":

Note: Just in case you haven't EXITED Time Doctor, you may see one of the following error messages. Please go back and follow the instructions in Step 1 to exit the Time Doctor application properly:


Once you're done zipping the file, a new TimeDoctor ZIP file will be added in the same location where your TimeDoctor folder is located. See below:

Step 4. Send us the compressed file.

Now you have the ZIP file ready. So what's next?

Check the file size.  Your ZIP file may be too large to send through email (>15 MB).  As an alternative to email, we recommend using a free file sharing service such as Dropbox, Google Drive or Copy.
