This guide will give you the COMPLETE process of locating your cache file, creating a ZIP file and sending it to our support team.

This article is applicable for all versions of Mac OS and OS X that are running either of the following versions of Time Doctor: Before going through these steps, please make sure your Time Doctor program is up to date by visiting http://www.timedoctor.com/download.html and viewing the version numbers there.


It will also explain how you can delete your local cache files if our support team ever instructs you to do so.


This guide is for Mac OS or OSX users only.

Step 1.  Exit the Time Doctor application


If Time Doctor Lite or Pro is running, then your cache file can not be compressed because it is currently in use. It is important that you actually EXIT the Time Doctor application (don't just sign out).


To properly close it, you have to Quit Time Doctor Lite:

 







Or you can just Right Click on the Time Doctor Lite icon from the dock and click on QUIT:

 






Step 2. Locate your Time Doctor cache folder

There are 2 ways to locate your cache folder.


 1. Open your Finder (press Command-Shift-G from the desktop to open) and follow the path below. 


~/Library/Application Support/TimeDoctorLite
~/Library/Application Support/TimeDoctorPro

 



2. If you do not see the TimeDoctorFolders from the first step, then try again opening up a new Finder instance with Command-Shift-G.  Hit Go right away, then manually navigate to Users > *YOURUSERNAME* > Library > Application Support > TimeDoctor Lite/Pro:

 

Users/*YOURUSERNAME*/Library/Application Support/TimeDoctorLite

If you're using the more advanced "Time Doctor Pro" version of the software, then you'll see a TimeDoctorPro folder instead of (or in addition to) the TimeDoctorLite folder.  Be sure to compress and send us the correct folder, depending on which version of the software you're using and having trouble with.



Don't see the Library folder? Don't worry! Check out this section:

NOTE: Follow this step only if you do not see the Library Folder. If your Library folder is shown, skip this and proceed to Step 3


How to show hidden folders on Mac

 

A. Open New Finder window and go to your Home Folder and look for the Library folder. If you don’t see Library, its because its hidden by default. Proceed to step B


B. Show hidden Library folder. Go to View > Show view options (Or click Command +J)





C. Put a check mark on Show Library Folder. Once this is done, Library Folder will appear right away from inside the Home Folder

 




Once you're sure the Library Folder is shown, Proceed to the steps below:



STEP 3. compress the cache folder



A. Right click on the TimeDoctorLite / TimeDoctorPro folder and select "Compress  TimeDoctorLite" or"Compress TimeDoctorPro":


 



 

B. This will automatically create a ZIP file as you can see below:










Step 4.  Send us the ZIP file 


Now you have the ZIP file ready. So what's next?

Check the file size.  Your ZIP file will probably be too large to send through email (>15 MB).  As an alternative to email, we recommend using a free file sharing service such as Dropcanvas, Dropbox, Google Drive or Copy.  In this example, we'll use DropCanvas (http://dropcanvas.com/).  Just drag and drop the ZIP file onto the website as you see below: 




 


 Once the upload is done you can copy the link and share it with us:
