This guide will give you the COMPLETE process of locating your cache file, creating a ZIP file and sending it to our support team.  It will also explain how you can delete your local cache files if our support team ever instructs you to do so.  Before going through these steps, please make sure your Time Doctor program is up to date by visiting http://www.timedoctor.com/download.html and viewing the version numbers there.

This guide is for Ubuntu users only.

Are you running Windows?  See this article instead.

Step 1. Exit the Time Doctor application

To send us the correct cache data you'll need to fully Exit Time Doctor application (don't just sign out) before compressing your cache folder.

To properly exit Time Doctor Lite, open the Options menu and click on Exit:

Step 2. Locate your "TimeDoctorLite" or "Time Doctor Pro" cache folder

Open your Home folder and follow the path below.

~/.local/share/data/TimeDoctorLite

~/.local/share/data/TimeDoctorPro

A. See the screenshot below:

B. The .local folder is hidden by default, so we need to display the hidden folders . Open the View menu and put a CHECK on Show Hidden Files (or you can just simply Press Ctrl+H).

If you are using the "Time Doctor Pro" version of the software, then you'll see a TimeDoctorPro folder instead of (or in addition to) the TimeDoctorLite folder. Be sure to compress and send us the correct folder, depending on which version of the software you're using and need support for.

Step 3. Zip your cache file (or delete it if so instructed).

A. Just delete this folder if the support staff instructed you to do so, for example, if you are re-installing a fresh version of Time Doctor.  Otherwise, to send us a copy of your cache file, continue with the instructions in this tutorial.  Right-click on the TimeDoctorLite (or TimeDoctorPro) folder and click Compress:

B. An information dialog box will pop-up. You can leave everything set to the defaults Or change the destination folder to Desktop or whichever is easier for you. In this example, I chose to change the destination to desktop and click the Create button:

C. A new TimeDoctorLite.tar.gz file will be created for you:

Step 4. Send us the ZIP file

Now you have the ZIP file ready. So what's next?

Check the file size.  Your ZIP file will probably be too large to send through email (>15 MB). As an alternative to email, we recommend using a free file sharing service such as Dropcanvas, Dropbox, Google Drive or Copy.  In this example, we'll use DropCanvas (http://dropcanvas.com/). Just drag and drop your ZIP file onto the website as you see below:

Once the upload is done you can copy the link and share it with us:
