Note: This is available with all Time Doctor Subscription Plans. This can be accessed by Owners, Admin.
Pre-Requisite
- Check if Review and approve new automatic application users is enabled in Setting / Company Setting Page and the scroll under Configuration section as this is disabled by default.
- Confirm that a new tab labelled New Automatic Users shows up in Settings / Users Page
- Different categories will appear Inside New Automatic Users such as:
- Pending approval - this is where all new automatic users attempt will appear and no billing will start yet
- Approved users – these are all approved users who have not started tracking time yet and no billing will start still, once users start tracking time, they will no longer appear here and will move to Settings / Users Page in the Active Users section
- Blocked users – These are users profiles that should not be tracked
- Pending approval - this is where all new automatic users attempt will appear and no billing will start yet
Caution: It is a MUST to restart the device of the user to be detected by the system and be moved to the Active Users Tab in Settings / Users Page.
To Install the Time Doctor Automatic App
Step 1.
Download/copy the script. Make sure to get the most recent version of the Time Doctor Automatic App from the Download page or ask the owner/admin of the account to share the updated script.
Step 2.
Run the terminal. There are 2 ways:
- Option 1. Open it from Launchpad.
- Option 2. Press Command + space bar and type “Terminal” into the Spotlight bar to open it.
Step 3.
Paste the download link in Terminal to install the app. When asked for a password, enter the password of the computer.
Step 4.
Make sure the Automatic App has been added to the accessibility and screen share settings in macOS. In the settings, the app will be named “env” (or “sfproc.sh” if the macOS is older than Catalina).
Step 5.
Check the online report to see if the user shows up as online.

To Uninstall the Time Doctor Automatic App
The uninstall instructions can be found in the FAQ section of the Download page.
- Copy the uninstall command for macOS.
- Paste it into Terminal and press Enter to uninstall.
Note: If asked for a password, enter the password of the computer.
