How to Run the Time Doctor Automatic Application on System or Domain Administrator Accounts
Note: The Run app on administrator accounts settings is available in All Time Doctor and can be accessed by Owners and Admins given that the account is either Mix (Interactive and Automatic), or Automatic Only.
TL;DR:
By default, the Time Doctor Automatic Application does not run on system or domain administrator accounts to avoid creating unnecessary profiles. Enable Run app on administrator accounts in Settings / Company Settings / Advanced to track these accounts across domain machines. This setting does not apply to local administrator accounts.
How to Run the Time Doctor Automatic Application for System or Domain Administrator Accounts
By default, the Time Doctor Automatic Application does not run on system or domain administrator accounts when logging into machines that are part of a domain. This prevents the creation of multiple unwanted user profiles in your Time Doctor company account.
When a domain or local administrator logs into a different machine within your domain that has the Time Doctor Automatic Application installed, a new Time Doctor user profile is automatically created. Over time, this can add unnecessary accounts to your company’s user list.
To allow the Time Doctor Automatic Application to track activity for system or domain administrator accounts on domain machines:
Step 1 – Open Company Settings
- Go to Settings / Company Settings.
- Click Advanced in the left menu to scroll to the bottom of the page.
Step 2 – Enable the Setting
- Locate the “Run app on administrator accounts” setting.
- Enable this setting.
Once enabled, the app will create a single profile for each domain administrator account when they log into user machines on the domain. This allows their activity and reports to be visible in your Time Doctor company account.
Important Notes
- This setting does not apply to local administrator accounts. If a machine’s local administrator logs in on a computer with the Automatic Application installed, a user profile will still be created for that local admin.
- To identify whether an administrator account in your company account is a domain administrator or a local administrator, go to Settings / Users page, select the user’s name, and click Info on the right-side panel. If the OS User ID ends with -500 or -512, it is a domain administrator account.
Monitor New Accounts
- View the number of new users via the Settings / Users page.
- Use the dashboard widget to see how many users were added within a selected period (today, yesterday, past 7 days, or past 30 days).
