How to Use the Video Recording Feature in Time Doctor

Note: Video Recording is available in Premium and as an add-on to the rest of the subscription plans. This can be accessed by Company Owners and Managers.

The Video Recording feature captures short screen recordings while Users track time in the Time Doctor Desktop App.

Company Owners and Managers can review these recordings to understand workflows, verify activity, and improve productivity. Recordings are automatically generated during tracked work sessions when the feature is enabled.

 

The Video Recording feature records screen activity while time is tracked in the Time Doctor Desktop App.

These recordings provide visual insight into work sessions and help organizations review workflows and productivity patterns.

Video recordings capture:

  • Screen activity during tracked time

  • Applications and websites used

  • Workflows within a specific time segment

Recordings are stored securely and can be reviewed from activity reports in the Time Doctor web dashboard.

 

Enabling Video Recording

Video recording must be enabled in company settings before recordings are captured.

To enable video recording:

    1. Go to Settings / Company Settings.

    2. Locate the Video Recording setting.

    3. Toggle the feature ON.

    4. Save the changes.

Once enabled, the Time Doctor Desktop App will begin capturing video segments during tracked work sessions.

 

Where to View Video Recordings

Video recordings can be viewed from activity-related reports.

Access recordings through the following areas:

    • Reports / Timeline Report

    • Reports / Activity Summary

    • User activity views

Recordings appear alongside tracked time entries and other monitoring data such as screenshots and activity levels.

 

What Information Video Recordings Capture

Video recordings provide a visual representation of work sessions and typically include:

  • Screen activity during tracked time

  • Applications used during the recording

  • Websites visited during the recording period

  • User workflow across a recorded segment

These recordings help managers better understand how work tasks are completed.

 

User Access and Permissions

Access to video recordings depends on the User’s role.

Company Owners

    • Enable or disable the feature

    • View recordings for all Users

Managers

    • View recordings for Users assigned to their teams

Regular Users

    • Do not typically have access to view recordings

 

Privacy and Monitoring Transparency

Video recording settings are controlled by company administrators.

Organizations should ensure that Users are informed when monitoring features are enabled.

Additional monitoring settings such as Screenshot Blur may be configured to protect sensitive information.
