The Activity Summary Report: What It Is and How to Read It
Note: The Activity Summary Report is available in Time Doctor's Standard and Premium Plans and can be accessed by Owners, Admins, and Managers. Website & App Tracking must be enabled for the company. To grant access to Regular Users, go to Company Settings / Permissions and enable Allow regular users to see the Activity Summary Report.
The Activity Summary Report provides a high-level view of how tracked working hours are spent across a team. It includes customizable columns covering active time, idle time, unproductive web and app usage, meeting time, manually added time, mobile time, break time, and paid leave. Use it to monitor productivity, support payroll reviews, and improve workforce processes.
The Activity Summary Report offers a comprehensive way for managers to review and analyze how working hours are spent. The report provides multiple customizable metrics, allowing organizations to focus on what matters most—whether that's identifying active working time, breaks, meetings, time spent on mobile, or time spent on unproductive apps and websites.
Key Categories in the Activity Summary Report
Select any combination of the following columns to tailor the report to specific roles, departments, or use cases.
Total Time Tracked
Overall working time logged by Time Doctor for the selected period.
Activity Level
A comparative productivity metric that rates each user's keyboard and mouse activity against typical levels for the same websites and apps across all Time Doctor users. Ratings range from Very Low to Very High. Click a user's Activity Level to open the side panel and see ratings broken down by each website and app accessed. Idle Minutes % and Idle Minutes
Proportion or total time spent without any keyboard or mouse activity, measured in full minutes. Idle Minutes % = total idle minutes ÷ total tracked work minutes. For details on typical idle time ranges by role, see How to Understand Idle Times in the Activity Summary Report.
Idle Seconds % and Idle Seconds
A more granular breakdown of inactivity, measured at the per-second level. Idle Seconds % = total idle seconds ÷ total tracked seconds. The Idle Seconds % is always equal to or higher than the Idle Minutes %.
Unproductive Websites & Apps % and Time
Amount or percentage of time spent on websites or apps categorized as unproductive by the company via Settings / Productivity Ratings.
Meeting Time % and Time
Time or percentage of tracked time spent in scheduled meetings, based on integrated calendars or virtual meeting tools.
Manually Added Time % and Time
Time entered manually rather than captured automatically by the Time Doctor app—for example, time added via the Were you working? prompt or the Edit Time feature. Manual time entries appear highlighted in yellow in reports.
Mobile Time % and Time
Work tracked via the Time Doctor mobile application, displayed as absolute time or a percentage of total tracked time.
Paid Break Time % and Time
Amount or share of break time that is designated as paid, based on the company's break configuration.
Unpaid Break Time
Break periods that are not paid, as configured in the company's break settings.
Paid Leave Time
Time designated as official paid leave—such as vacation or public holidays—as configured in the account.
