Troubleshooting Offline Status Despite Internet Connection

TL;DR:

If the Time Doctor desktop app incorrectly shows offline status despite an active internet connection, follow these steps:

  • Sign out and close the app

  • Restart and sign in again

  • Check if tracked hours are synced

  • Try another internet source

  • Collect cache files if needed

If Time Doctor indicates that the desktop app is offline even though the internet connection is active, perform the following steps to resolve the issue:

Sign Out of the Application

  • Launch the Time Doctor desktop app.

  • Sign out of the current user account.

Close the Application

  • Fully close the Time Doctor app.

  • Use the Task Manager (Windows) or Activity Monitor (Mac) to ensure the application is not running in the background.

Restart the Application

  • Reopen the Time Doctor desktop app.

  • Sign back in using the appropriate credentials.

Check Tracked Hours

  • After signing in, verify whether the tracked hours are now visible on the dashboard.

Try a Different Internet Connection

  • If the issue persists, connect using a different internet source such as a mobile hotspot.

  • Observe whether the status changes from offline to online.

Additional Considerations

  • Time Doctor continues tracking time locally, even without an internet connection.

  • Once reconnected, all locally tracked time should automatically sync with the server.

  • If syncing fails, gather cache files for diagnostics. Refer to the support article on locating cache files: How to Find Cache Files
