Will Managers be Notified When Users Login and Out of Time Doctor?

Note:

Login/logout visibility is available in the Basic, Standard, and Premium Time Doctor plans and can be accessed by Admins and Managers.

TL;DR:

Managers are not automatically notified when a user logs in or logs out of Time Doctor. However, login, logout, and tracked time data can be reviewed in the Timesheet, Attendance, and Activity reports.

Is the Manager Notified When Users Log In or Out?

  • Time Doctor does not send real-time alerts (e.g., push notifications or emails) when users log in or log out.

  • The platform is built around reporting tools rather than instant notifications.

How to View Login, Logout, and Tracked Time Data

Managers and Admins can access several reports to track user activity:

Timesheet and Attendance Reports

Access login and logout details through:

    • Timesheet reports, which display total hours worked per day
    • Attendance reports, which include start and end times, idle time, and breaks

Activity and Timeline Reports

Use these reports to:

    • See a breakdown of tasks and projects worked on
    • Identify gaps in tracking, idle periods, or session switches

Admin and Audit Logs

Admins or account owners may have access to detailed logs depending on their subscription plan and user role.

Does Automatic Tracking Trigger Notifications?

Automatic tracking—where the timer starts with system login or computer activity—does not send any notifications to managers. It only modifies how time tracking operates.

When Are Notifications Sent?

Notifications may be triggered in these situations:

    • Custom API integrations: Organizations using the Time Doctor API or webhooks may configure alerts.
    • Third-party tools: Slack, email, or automation tools may send login/logout notifications if integrated.
    • Feature permissions: Report access may vary depending on the user role and Time Doctor plan.

Best Practices for Monitoring Login and Logout

  • Check the Timesheet and Attendance reports.
  • Review the Activity or Timeline report.
  • Confirm if your company has any custom notifications.
  • Verify your user role and plan access to see applicable reports.
