Fix Missing Activity Bar in Time Doctor Desktop App
TL;DR:
- On Windows: Hide the Activity Bar, exit the app, delete the TD registry folder, then reopen and show the Activity Bar.
- On macOS: Adjust the display scaling to Larger Text and revert to Default.
The Activity Bar in Time Doctor is a small overlay that appears on top of all other windows. It shows the current task and its duration, even when the desktop application is minimized. It also allows starting and stopping the timer directly.
If the Activity Bar is not visible, follow the steps below based on the operating system.
Windows
Important: Follow these steps exactly as described. Deleting the wrong registry folders may cause system instability or crashes.
- In the Time Doctor Desktop application, set the Activity Bar to Hidden.
- Exit the Time Doctor Desktop application.
- Open Registry Editor:
- Press Win + R.Open Registry Editor:
- Type regedit and press Enter.
- Navigate to the following path: HKEY_CURRENT_USER > Software
- Delete the TD folder.
- Open the Time Doctor Desktop application again and set the Activity Bar to Visible.
macOS
- Go to System Settings.
- Open Displays.
- Change the display setting to Larger Text, then revert it back to Default.
