Note: If you don't need the tracked time from one account and want to start fresh with the second, delete the other account and keep the most recent one active. Otherwise, send an email to support@timedoctor.com to request a merge if you need to keep the data from both accounts.
Prevent These Common Causes of Silent App User Duplication:
-
Logging in on two different computers - Logging in into different devices either one at a time or simultaneously creates duplicate Silent App user profiles.
-
Signing in using a different user profile on the same computer - Avoid installing the app on a shared computer and signing in with multiple user profiles. If one user profile has the Silent App installed, do not sign in as a different user to avoid tracking. Also, do not allow users to borrow computers and sign in as a different user. This will create new Silent App user profiles. Do not sign in to another user profile using the same device unless unavoidable.
-
Logging in as an administrator if you are a system admin - By default, system admins are blocked from creating a user profile. Read more here.. If you need to track time as a system admin, enable this setting from your Settings / Company Settings page.
- Logging in a virtual machine or terminal server profile - Logging into a virtual machine, such as VirtualBox, VMware, Parallels, and the like, or those users that have the app installed on both their virtual environment and their host computer, will result in duplicated Silent App profiles. The same is the case with users logging in to a remote terminal server.
-
Reformatting or re-installing a computer's operating system - Reinstalling the Silent App on a reformatted device or reinstalling OS will create a new Silent App profile. If this happens, message support@timedoctor.com to merge the profiles.
-
Working on Azure Active Directory-hosted virtual machines - These are logins managed through Azure Active Directory. Logging in to local machines using the same login credentials will create duplicate Silent App profiles.
If you want to track only specific users in your organization, you will have to create additional user group(s) in your Active Directory and add user profiles that need to be tracked using the Silent App. Then using GPO or any other mass-deployment application, you can deploy the Time Doctor
Silent App only for those users in the newly created groups.
